The Halifax Oktoberfest is a yearly celebration of German heritage organized by Garrison Brewing and the German Canadian Association of Nova Scotia (GCA). Launched in 2009, ‘HFX Oktoberfest’ attracts thousands of locals and visitors alike to the historic Seaport District, while raising money for the Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) and the GCA.
This year, we are expanding Oktobfestfest to the entire Halifax Seaport for a traditional celebration of Bavarian culture. From 9:00 am – 4:00 pm “Kinder-fest” will offer family-friendly games, sausages and craft beer by the Cunard Statue, all proceeds will be donated directly to the MFRC! Wrist bands can be purchased for $5 each, allowing the kids unlimited access to the games, face painting & bouncy castle (there will be beer for to keep parents occupied too).
We will also be turning the parking lot in front of Garrison into a Bavarian-themed beer hall. People of all ages are invited for a authentic taste of German culture from 11:00am -7:00pm beginning with a celebratory cask tapping at 12:00, followed by an afternoon of Garrison Craft Beer, traditional Oompah Music & Bavarian cuisine from Scanway Catering and Saege Bistro. Entrance is by donation, again all proceeds going to the MFRC. Then, from 7:00pm to midnight, join us for a rockin’ evening of music by The Roving Steins & Hawco, a pig roast, and of course craft beer. Admission will cost $12 at the door. PROSIT!
